The Road to Making #Zane's Law

Hello everyone!

How about we head into this weekend with some EXCITING news from us over here at ZaneMakesBetter?!?!

Next week, a huge step will take place as we head to Tallahassee (Florida's capitol) to meet with legislators on Medicaid reform and specifically #ZanesLaw. This is the policy change I'm hoping to get passed through legislation which will allow hospice patients medical and insurance rights they don't have at this time.

We will be in our State capitol Tuesday through Thursday along with Florida Voices for Health speaking to Senate and House members on the goals set forth to make medical care more accessible and affordable. Our agenda is action packed and I have two Senators that have (so far) agreed to meet with me in their offices. (We have 9 requests out to those who serve on Health Committees).

First, we will be meeting with Senator Jason Brodeur’ (Seminole County Republican) and his team. Senator Brodeur is the Vice Chair Health Policy and on the Appropriations Committee on Health and Human Services, a Florida Gator and local to our area.

Next, we will meet with Chief Legislative Assistant Senator Dennis Baxley (Lake County Republican) and his team. He serves on Health Policy committees and is a seasoned politician.

Apart from those two meetings (and we hope to get more confirmed), we will be participating in the Florida Voices Health Press Conference in capitol rotunda Wednesday and many other important breakout sessions.

Moreover, Ybeth Brusual of Channel 13 will be in Tallahassee following us and our story! So, stay tuned for all the news after our trip!

I'm over the moon to get this ball really rolling, honoring my Zaner and helping others with complicated diagnoses as he had.
