Every Little Thing is Gonna Be Alright

Hello everyone! I know it's been awhile since I gave a medical update. We've had a lot going on, family visiting, but all the while always working to #MakeZaneBetter

So here's where things are with Zane. He's moving and reacting more to touch and sound. He seems to track people in the room more and he's actually making sounds vocally! Sometimes we have conversations. I'll ask him questions and he hums back. We still can't know WHAT he's saying, but I just love hearing his voice, even if he isn't speaking words. YET.

I am in the middle of yet another insurance challenge. While Zane did finally get Medicaid, we've learned that as he's an adult, they will only allow for well-care providers or comfort-care providers (hospice/palliative). Until now, we've fallen in the second bucket because it's all we could get worked out when making our way back to Florida. So, now a switch to a new care plan is starting to get underway. But it's a process. Once we start making home health visits for PT and OT and working out quarterly MRIs, we will lose our current team (and bed, equipment). And clearly, that can't happen overnight. It's a tough thing, but necessary. We worked so hard to get the current caregivers he sees regularly in place and I am not ready to start over with new folks. His current team knows him well and we love them like family. We work together so well. I almost want to cry to know we've got to let them go. Our unfair medical system once again sticking it to us.

But, we must make Zane better, so it's a necessary evil undertaking we must face. Please continue to pray for Zane as he slowly pushes the needle to the "better" setting.

Here's Zane with Catalina, his music therapist (Berkeley trained!) earlier today He tapped his feet with her today to the Beatles and hummed along to Bob Marley. Every little thing is going to be alright indeed.
