Working Out Some New Permanent Digs

Hi All. It's been a busy time these last few days now that I haven't got a full-time nurse or CNA at my side. I'm finding a groove, but there's always the unexpected when I'm on my own that I've had to get an oncoming panic in check. I have to thank my brother Ben for spending nearly all of his days off with me, also learning how to care for Zane, just as I learn. Marla and Manny continue to stop by every day, taking laundry, bringing food and store items. And Duane, my RN friend, is also sticking around for hours most days to keep my head about me. He's a travel nurse and in between contracts so he's got the time to spare. What a Godsend.

Also, I've not really made this clear (since it didn't really seem necessary), but we are sort of camping out an a mate's mom's place as she has moved back to the Chicago area. They family now keeps this downstairs condo from mine as a vacation spot. Getting Zane upstairs into my condo he lived in before his diagnosis upstairs would have been a chore (no elevator). And the opportunity to get him outside would have been null. So our family friends have graciously allowed Zane and I to park it here until I work out another downstairs condo. I can say this SAME family is working out a deal for me for another unit they have on the lake. Details forthcoming on that, but Zane and I will be on the move once more...for good. Our many, many, many thanks to the Kent Family. They are angels walking the earth. Truly.

I did something crazy both yesterday and today. I left the house! And I drove to my office. Haven't done that in 8 months. My boss Kirk has been the keeper of Zane's orchid given to him waaaaay back in the first hospital here in Orlando where he had his brain surgery. It was a one-stalk, three-leaf little baby then and Kirk and his wife Elisabeth have been loving and nurturing it and keeping it in my office to flourish, in the way we all would like Zane to do as well. See the photos here.

So, that's it for now. I could go on about the lack of insurance decisions, the inept people I am forced to talk to to get them to do their jobs and a bunch of other stuff. But you know me. I don't want to be pessimistic. But...come on Medicaid. This kid needs some help and medical services. Momma ain't made outta money and ain't makin' no more right now!
